And for some reason I felt SO drawn to it! Only a couple of years later I got to read the original story. I learned that the author was writing about himself, being gay man and falling in love with a guy. Then it really hit me that “The little Mermaid” was actually a gay love story about forbidden love. Looking back, I realised that it was quite queer indeed.”
